the boat

The boat was beautiful. They announced your name when you first stepped on to boat like you were royalty. Disney attention to detail is exquisite. It was like a five star hotel everywhere you turn there was something else to marvel at. we went straight to a delicious lunch in the "Enchanted Garden" Did I mention the food was good. It was nice to have the staff dote on you hand and foot to make sure everything was perfect.
I would have to say my favorite part was the fact that this was a "family" cruise. So it was okay if your kids acted like kids everyone was in the same boat. (pardon the pun). No one looked at you funny if your toddler made a mess at the table or started singing Disney soundtracks at the top of their lungs. I liked how the servers would cut up your kids food so you could actually eat your own meal while it was still hot. The fact that everyone was accepting of the "family life style" was a huge load off my shoulders so I could have a vacation also. (mothers you know what I mean)

waiting to board the Disney Dream

So we get to the port were we have to fill out the paper work and all the boring stuff. The good thing was that Disney is a master at entertaining and handling crowds. Peter and Brennen loved the "doggie". The kids were good and William the social butterfly already made 2 friends with playdates to meet at the kids club.
Then the magic begins.

1st real vacation

Well, we are back from vacation and we had a blast. I think Scott now has new found priorities for vacations. He is now planning our next adventure. There was so much to do and see that I will post things in sections. Where to start? I guess I'll just start from the beginning. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to check our bags, get lost, and explore the airport. So we set up a movie for the kids to help pass the time. then we realized they were going to be sitting for a long time so we had a few rounds of duck duck goose and red light green light. Got gawked at by the Asian people because we had all these little Blonde haired blue eyed kids. (seriously this one group of Asians stared and talked about us for a good 30 min.
Finally it was time to get on the plane. One problem, one big problem. We lost the woobie! It was nowhere to be found. I was totally panicked! I was ready to cry. We were supposed to fly for 5 hours at night without a woobie. Peter has never fallen asleep with out the woobie. ( I did have a spare but it was packed in the suitcase in the bottom of the plane.) This time Scott was the optimist saying that it was going to be okay. I guess that depends on your version of okay.
Well we get on the plane and within minutes Peter is asking for woobie.
"Sorry baby I lost woobie"
"I need woobie mommy"
"I know sweetie. I don't have it."
He is crying that super sad cry now.
"Mommy woobie mommy woobie"
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm so so sorry"
"Woobieeeeeeeee"
I go in the bathroom an take off my garment top. It silky He might think its woobie right?
Wrong. finally he collapses clutching my top and in his sleep he is calling for his woobie. That is how the trip started. Luckily that is not how the rest of it went.

Super bowl birthday

So it was that time again....
Scott's birthday. This time it fell on Superbowl Sunday so we did a little 2 for 1 party.
For his birthday dinner we went to olive garden on Saturday (his choice) and Peter loved his food so much he decided to lick his plate clean. We had to sit outside because the restaurant was quite busy even though we went at 5pm. I guess there was a high school dance because we had to sit next to a bunch of teenagers in fancy clothes. That was a little annoying.
As I was trying to come up with a cake idea late Saturday night I decided to go the easy route and make cupcakes. Since it was Superbowl Sunday I thought it would be cute to make little footballs for the top with some left over fondant I had in the pantry. Well my fondant was old and not usable. What to do what to do. As I wracked my brain for some inspiration I naturally thought "what would my mom do?" And then it hit me I remember my mom making peanut butter play dough for us when I was little. That would work. Well thank goodness for the Internet because it was way too late to be calling mom for the recipe (11pm which is midnight her time) Why is it that inspiration hits us late at night? I remember my mom saying she did her best (artistic) work from about midnight - 2 in the morning. I guess its genetic. I realize they are not done very cleanly but it was really late and I was tired.
The party turned out pretty good. we had a good turnout from our friends and good food to share. We didn't feel it appropriate to go all out because it was on a Sunday. But it was nice.
In all seriousness I am thankful for Scott in my life. He is a good husband, provider, and father. He helps me to be more sympathetic towards our children. He has a soft heart and a great laugh. But most important. He's my best friend. I love you sweetie. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Science museum

So we went to the science museum. I love these kind of places. They are more fun to me than Disneyland. I don't know if its the science nerd in me or what. I think I passed the gene down because me kids love it too. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures because I was too busy playing myself.
They had everything there. Their new exhibits were different "zones" The had a desert, underwater, arctic, LA and a few others but we ran out of time so I don't remember what they were.
Peter Loved the fish actually it was the "underwater zone" He could have started at the fish all day if we let him. Brennen and my favorite were the sound/light/ and building area. I think we could have spent hours in that one area.
All in all it was a great way to spend a Saturday.

Natural History museum

We took a Saturday and went down to the natural history museum in LA. This building is so pretty. They just don't do architecture like this anymore. I love the attention to detail and everything is classic elegance. The boys favorite were probably the dinosaurs and the bird area. The bird wing had a lot of interactive things which I believe won their vote. Check out the ceiling AMAZING I kept trying to get a good picture of it and Scott thought I was crazy. The elevator doors were also beautiful.
I wonder if we are related to Dr Ralph Schreiber? Anyone know?
My favorite was the rocks/gems. The only problem with that is that I now want jewelry from almost all of them. It was cool to see the shear variety. After the natural history museum we went to the science museum which is right next door. Did I mention it was free?!!!

Spring time is already here?

Photo0546I can’t believe spring is already here. I keep singing popcorn popping with the little boys and looks what its done, We now have popcorn on the trees (as Brennen likes to point out.)

Although I’m worried about Brennen and the allergy season, (He has awful allergies and it always turns into ear infections.) It really is beautiful. Probably my second favorite season. I love how everything starts fresh and new. It reminds me about what things in my life I can start fresh and new.
