Foam Day July 2017

We love Foam Day.  It's just so unique.  It feels like swimming in a cloud. Warm and cold, silky and smooth.  Just don't get it in your eyes. This is something put on by the city.  It started out as a way to use up the expired foam that's used to put out fires.  Its no long good for putting out fires but it is fun to play in.  The firemen shoot the foam until its 2-3 feet tall on a large grassy field.  They have 2 sections.  A smaller not as deep section for little's and a no holds for the big people.  I swear the firemen love to shoot everyone with the foam  Especially the grown ups.  Its important to wear eye protection because it does sting if it gets in your eyes.
They've turned it into an annual event pending on the water storage for the year.  If we have had very little water they don't hold foam day.  So we all pray for rain and snow just for this day.  There are food trucks and blow up bouncy houses and slides.  They also have games and now some vendors.  Its really turning into a festival.

Check out the smiles.  You think they're having fun?

Ben wasn't amused.

Maria liked it a little more.

Jane enjoyed herself.

Eat like a Pilgrim Nov 2014

Scott and I tried out Thanksgiving Points "Eat Like a Pilgrim"
It was a dinner similar to what the original Pilgrims would eat. The set up was spot on, cast iron dishes, no cutlery.  The entertainment was pretty decent.  We got chastised for not having a head covering.  Thankfully I had a sweater on to cover my arms otherwise either I or Scott (most likely Scott) would be put in the stocks.
They were a little off in that they actually served turkey and no fish but it was the idea of the whole thing I guess.
Scott joined the tug of war with colonists against Indians.  I am proud to say my man pulled them over the top. Gotta love those muscles.
They had a folk dance that we participated in.  Scott said this counted as his yearly "take me dancing" but I disagree because we weren't even allowed to touch each other in this dance.  We leaned over to give each other a kiss and were scolded for our inappropriateness.  It was still fun to flirt with each other and we had a good time. Sometimes I feel guilty for leaving the kids out of something like this but then I just chalk it up to date night with my sweetie and those are very important.

Chalk Art Festival June 2014

Sometimes there are too many great things to do in summer.  This happened to be the case this particular weekend.  We had the chalk art festival and the Scottish festival.  I really wanted to go to the chalk art festival and Scott really wanted the Scottish festival.  So we compromised.  The chalk art was going on Friday and Saturday, while the Scottish was only Saturday.
The kids and I got to the festival when it was just starting.  The down side of this is that the artists were just starting their work.  We meandered around the Gateway for awhile, checking out the planetarium and playing in the fountains to give the artists a little time.  The kids still had a good time and I even treated them to a candy from Rocket Fizz.  The good thing about coming early is that the kids got to see the process the artists go through to create these works of art.
I decided this is something I would like put on my bucket list.  I would love to do it with Ellie and my Mom, I think it would be a wonderful experience.
