Roller Derby with Troy and Tiff Oct 2017

When Jane and I went to North Carolina to visit Troy and Tiffany we went to a Roller Derby.  It was a lot of fun.  They threw some swag into the crowd and of course these cool shades are what I caught. As we were walking to the building we saw the Ghostbusters out front complete with the Ghostmobile.  Gotta say a great way to start an evening. Because it was Halloween they had a costume contest.  The 2 teams were the Zombie's and the Unicorns.  When the Zombies came out on the track they did the dance from Thriller, it was pretty epic.  They had a program that told us the rules to Roller Derby and how things are scored.  It was actually pretty cool to watch.  Some of these girls could really fly, and when I say fly I don't just mean go fast.  Some of them could really leap with their skates to get ahead of the pack and score.  One of the best was a player by the name of "princess Slaya"  Get it...like princess Leia but she slay's cause she's awesome.  Tiffany was star struck with her.  This was the perfect type of outing to go to with the Smiths.  Kind of sums up our relationship with them.  Lots of fun! After the Roller Derby we headed over to downtown Charleston.  We ate at a place called Tupilo Honey.  Delicious southern food.mmmm

We love these guys.

Mascot Bowl Sept 2017

Every year the Skyridge Junior High football team has a game against the famous and local mascots of the area.  Its a charity game that earns money for Christmas for poor kids in the area.  All the college mascots were there, as was the Jazz Bear and the Beez mascot as well.  They have a lot of fun.  Will said "I don't know how hard to tackle them.  I'm afraid I'll hurt them."
The mascots won the game mostly because they didn't play by the rules but that's what made it so fun. It was funny to watch them deliberately take the ball away from the boys and plow everyone over.

They dropped a football out of this helicopter from  500 feet and a dare devil guy on the ground caught it and broke a record.

Real Salt Lake Lion was spraying us down with silly string.

BYU Football Oct 2016

Go Cougs. We took William to a BYU football game this year because now that he is in football we thought he would appreciate it more.  Its always fun to go to a game and feel the energy of the crowd. They didn't win this game and it was a little cold .

Ellie Volleyball Sept 2016

Ellie finally tried a sport.  She chose volleyball.  She did pretty good with it.  Her team mates were very supportive.  That was my favorite part about the whole thing.  She didn't take it as seriously as I would have liked but baby steps.

William Skyridge Football Aug 2016

William started football this year.  He was pretty excited to try this new sport.  I found it hard for me to watch.  Not because my kid gets hurt but because I am super compatative and these kids are not.  They are all new to the sport and have no idea what they are doing but it can be frustrating for us on the side lines. He played both offensive and defensive.  It was interesting to see the varying sizes of all the players because 7th graded grow at such different paces.  Some kids were basically full grown men where others like my William were not even 5 feet tall yet.  One kid came off the field crying and saying he was sick of getting hit.  My first thought was "dude you picked the wrong sport football is all about getting hit."  what came out of my mouth was, "If you don't want to get hit than you need to run faster!"  He wasn't very happy with me but sometimes I must admit these kids are a bunch of wusses. Don't worry out of all the games that was my only slip of the tongue.  Fight on Falcons

BYU Kickoff Day Aug 2015

BYU was haveing their sports kick off day and we wanted to be a part of if.We decided to make a night of it and have dinner down there then head off to the festivities.  We ate at Brick Oven Pizza which the kids enjoyed.  The boys friend Hunter really wanted to tag along.  Hes a pretty good kid so I was fine with him joining us. He is such a fan that he was good as gold. The kids loved it and Scott was like a kid in a candy store.  They tried out all the different sports talked to the players got a bunh of autographs and freebies.
Ellie got the entire womans volleyball team to sign their poster which we then gave to a girl in Young Womans who happends to be a great volleyball player.
I tried my hand at throwing a football.  We were supposed to throw it in a blow up target that was about 20 feet off the ground and 20 feet away.  They had 2 football sizes.  The gal asked which one I would like, I asked for the smaller one.  Turns out I don't know my own strength  I threw that ball way over the intended target.  She laughed and then handed me the larger football and said I should try one more my size.  I came much closer with this one but didn't quite get it in the hole.  Everyone was more than happy to laugh at my huge throw. Truth be told I was fine with it.  as long as my family is happy then I am happy.
The boys have recently started football so they were excited.  When Brennen went through the line of football players to get their autographs they asked what position he would like to play.  He responded with  "Full back"  Everyone of their reactions was the same.  A deep chuckle with a knowing nod and a oh  ya.

Sailing Aug 2015

For Fathers Day this year I got Scott sailing lessons.  He has always wanted to learn to sail.  This was just the introductory class mind you but it was a start.  We scheduled it for early evening and the weather was so pleasant.  It was actually a little too pleasant because there was hardly any wind.  We go going okay but it was oh so slow going.  It gave us time to admire being out on the water.  I do love being out on the water.  I find peace on the water.  Once we were all familiar with the parts and terminology of the boat and sailing we finally started to get some wind.  Boy was that exciting when the wind picked up and we just took off. For a small part of that excitment I got to be incharge of giving orders and holding the rudder in place.  We were so angled that I had to press my legs against the other side of the boat to keep from topeling out of the boat.  What a rush.  The instructor kept telling us not to worry the boat wont tip over.
It was such a super fun day I think we could get used to this.
