Ellie Sings on Temple Square Dec 2017

In early December this year Ellie and the Vox Anima choir had the opportunity to sing their arrangement of Christmas songs in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square.  That to me sounds like a bucket list thing.  You couldn't pick a better place or reason to get the Christmas Spirit. They were also invited to sing to the first presidency at the Church Office Building. 

 It was inspiring and edifying. As we were listening to them this older lady who works there asked me who this choir was.  I told her it was the Skyridge High School Chamber choir called Vox Anima.  She said  she had been there all night listening to ALL of the high schools sing and this one by far was THE BEST!  She was so impressed.  Ellie has had a wonderful time singing with Vox Anima this year.

So You Think You Can Dance Dec 2015

My sweetie surprised me with one more year of "So You Think You Can Dance" tickets.  I am grateful he is willing to suffer through 20,000 screaming girls just to please me.  My favorite this year was the robot dance with the girl from  Utah.  Maybe that's why I like this shoe so much,  we actually have quite a few people from Utah make it onto the show.  A little Utah pride you might say. In any case its always fun to relive my glory days as a dancer

Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Chior 2015

Scott Ellie and I were able to attend the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for the annual Christmas concert.  We try every year to get tickets to this concert.  Its a lottery system where you have to ask for them and just see if you get them.  It doesn't matter what kind of connections you have, because we have tried we even know 2 people in the choir and that never panned out.  This year turned out to be our lucky year.

I was most impressed with the organ player.  He was amazing!!! His fingers and feet were just flying.  Having tried playing the organ before I can't believe how incredible he was.  The choir and dancers were good too.

Trans Siberian Orchestra Nov 2014

We decided to check out the transiberian orchestra one more time.  They were playing the album that we really like so we wanted to see it live.  Our seats are pretty good right in the center and as usual the light show was pretty entertaining.  It is like going to a rock concert though, really loud with weird people and I might be getting a little too old for that sort of thing.  I was a little disappointed in the one song that I just love from them with the children's choir.  They used a bunch of adult singers instead and I felt like it really took away from the how special the song is.  It just wasn't quite the same without the angelic voices of children.  Aside form all of that the musicians really are amazing.  Their stamina alone is impressive and of course one only really goes to see Transiberian Orchestra for the light show. 

Jim Brickmam summer concert July 2014

 Jim Brickman came to concert at the Draper ampitheater.  I was so excited, he is one of my very favorite pianists.  I feel like he and I have very similar playing styles and I love to get his books when they come out.  Usually he does a Christmas concerts so this was an extra surprise.  Scott really didn't want to go with me so my sweet mom came to be my date.  We had excellent seats (2nd row) and I fell in love with the music all over again.  I felt like I really needed to hear this.  My desire to play has been dwindling rapidly and I hadn't even touched the piano in almost a month.  That is very rare for me when I usually play everyday.  After the concert I went home opened my Jim Brickman books and fell in love with piano again.  I guess sometimes we need a reminder of why we love the things we love.  Music is one of my loves and playing the piano is so calming and comforting to me I don't know what I would do with out that talent.  Thanks mom and dad for making me beg to take lessons.  It made me want it that much more.

Carrie Underwood/ stadium of fire July 2014

Right after we got home from Yellowstone Scott and I went to Stadium of Fire with Carrie Underwood.  Last year we went and saw Kelly Clarkson, its interesting to see how different they were in their shows.  Carrie Underwood is a great singer and I love that she really feels the music and that her music is usually so heartfelt.  That being said Kelly Clarkson whom we love really knows how to work a crowd.  I felt like overall that was the difference, maybe Carrie is too nice and sweet.  The music WAS good and she even sang us a new song that she has never performed before.  She was so cute because she was so nervous about it and asked us to bear with her but it was amazing we loved it.  As soon as she was done she took a huge sigh of relief, that made me like her that much more. 

Studio C was there as well and let me say that they are a funny group of people.  They had a skit where  2 were spectators in the stands and the rest were vender's.  One was selling cotton candy and proceeded to shout out all the ingredients instead of tempting us with the flavor.  Another was the Lobster Bisque guy and after him was one selling gauze and burn ointment.  The spectator says "do you just go around following the hot soup guy?"  To which he replies, "actually I usually follow the porcupine guy."  and right on cue a vendor comes selling porcupines.

Th music was great the comedy funny and the fireworks spectacular, and this time I didn't even feel guilty about leaving the kids behind.
