Light the World Dec 2017

This is going to be one our new traditions.  This is the first year that the Church and some partners did this really cool thing in the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  There were 3 vending machines and each one sold different things.  Scott bought a goat and some chickens for a family in need.  Jane bought a goat as well and some eye glasses.  Grandma Pool bought a goat and some glasses as well.  Ellie was singing in the Assembly Hall at the time.  William bought chickens.  Peter bought a first aid kit.  Ellie bought a back pack full of supplies.  Brenny bought clean water.  All of this stuff is paid for here and then the stuff is sent to people and families in need all over the world.  This is the best idea.  It made us all feel awesome. I know so many people want to serve they just don't know how.  Who ever the genius was who figured this out will get special blessings in heaven.  We felt so honored to be able to take part in this.  Whats even more amazing was the crowds of people lined up to give.  We waited in line for 30 minutes to do this and I know people waited even longer.  Merry Christmas.

Candy Cigeretts June 2017

So Grandma Pool showed up to Matt and Steph's one day with a package of candy cigarettes.  She asked "do you remember these from when you were young". Wow! We have come along way.  It was hilarious, having your mother encourage her grandchildren to "smoke"  of course after the jokes we talked about the seriousness of smoking to which all the kids groaned and complained because they already know smoking is bad.

Shakespeare Fest July 2017

For my mom's birthday she wanted a girls trip down to Cedar City for the Shakespeare Festival.  We always love a quick get away for a girls trip.  She got the hotel and the tickets (which we paid her back for) Once we got to the hotel we quickly learned it wasn't all it was advertised to be.  Their continental breakfast consisted of coffee.  The hot tub was definitely NOT hot and the pool was less than desirable.  In typical Wright fashion we drove to another hotel to see if we could get in their pool.  The pool was a separate building with a keypad on the door.  We just walked up to the maid service that was cleaning a room and asked for the code to get into the pool. We just didn't mention we were not staying at that hotel.  The sweet maid called up to the front desk and got us the code.
This happened to be a really nice indoor pool with a nice hot tub an outside patio and great bathrooms complete with showers.  We took advantage of this and spent the day lounging by the pool.  We bought ourselves some lunch and found that McDonald's had "Despicable Me" playing cards with their happy meals.  We bought a couple of sets of cards from the Mickey Dee's and took the cards and our lunch back over to the pool.  We did some shopping, hitting all our favorites. DI, Ross, and some cute little mom and pop shops. Some with vintage items some not so vintage.  We saw Shakespeare's much ado about nothing.  It was cute and well acted however I have learned I am not a huge fan of his.  I know he got paid by the word but there are truly too many words.  I feel like he uses 10 minutes of dialog just to get one simple point across.  It was in the outdoor theater which was pretty cool.  We also saw Guys and Dolls and that was more my speed.  It so fun to get together with the girls playing games and talking.  Love my family.

Easter at Grandmas April 2015

Easter at grandma's is always a fun affair.  The kids look forward to it ever year because in some of grandma's eggs there is real money. This year was no different.  Everyone got into the fun hunting for eggs as well as coloring them.  I love that all these cousins get along pretty well and know that its all about families.Another year another Easter at Grandma's house.  With all these cute little grand kids the cute factor is times 10.  This year grandma got a bunch of different bunnies to give to the kiddo's.  It was so interesting to see each child choose their rabbit.  They all chose one that reflected their personality.  Peter chose a very handsomely dressed bunny in a tweed jacket.  It was so him I couldn't have picked a better one myself  Brenny chose one that was super soft and bright green. (My Widow loves bright colors)
Although Easter is the holiday that marks my dad's death I feel like its okay, because Easter is the symbol of resurrection, of new life.  It helps when we have these new babies that we can hold and smell.  Because a new baby head smells like heaven.

Chalk the Block Sept 2015

Chalk the Block in Provo at the River woods was "artfully" done.  I really wanted to do this this year and again life's circumstances prevented me from entering.  Sometimes it is hard to sacrifice the fun for responsibility, but such is life.
I love this fun medium of art.  It brings us back to the carefree world of childhood when we would chalk all over the sidewalks.  One time while living in California my children and I were playing with sidewalk chalk.  We lived in some gated town homes at the time and leaked our drawing over to our neighbors side of the driveway.  Our drawings were sweet and innocent some even good because I copied out of a coloring book.  Our neighbors were not happy with our creations and scolded us for drawing on their side demanding us to wash it off.
We took the kids to expose them to some culture.  Sometimes  I think they feel like we shove it down their throats but they really do enjoy it while we are there.  Wherever "there"happens to be.  Plus this time we promised to take them out to dinner.  This is one cultural event that they are slow to warm up to but once the music arrives they love it.  They had this awesome band playing. I think it was the same one a last time.  Either way they were great and my kids could help but just bust a move.  It makes me so happy to see them so carefree and just go with the music regardless of whether or not people are watching.  It tells me that they are happy and maybe I am not such a failure as a mother.
