Ashton Gardens April 2016

The Thanksgiving Gardens has a tulip festival every year and while this is a wonderful festival I find it extremely crowded and expensive.  If you don't care for all the little extras like games for the kids and wares to buy you can go the week before  the festival and see all the beautiful tulips without the crowds.  And if you already have a membership you can get in for free.  The festival costs extra.  We opted to do this route and were equally happy.  I was just happy to see all the fantastic flowers.  You wouldn't believe all the different kinds of tulips they have.  I was completely content to walk the grounds and admire the colors, smells, and sights.
We had a great time rolling down the huge hills coming across the secret garden and climbing on everything you can climb on. It was one of those beautifully perfectly ordinary days with a simple walk amongst natures finest.
