We learned of a Renaissance Faire happening at Thanksgiving Point. Totally up our alley so we just had to check it out. For those of you who wonder how we know about all these things going on. We look for them. We look up the local festivals and fairs along with anything else that might be happening. We listen to the radio. They are chock full of information of the happy haps. Another good resource is KSL. If you look up the entertainment category there are always plenty of things happening everywhere. Sometimes they are a win other times its a dud but its always fun to try it out. You never know until you go. Plus there is always SOME type of discount, you just have to look. Sometimes you have to look harder for the discount. For this particular outing they mentioned that if you dress up you get a discount. So all but Scott donned a costume fit for the occasion. However when we got there we learned it was cheaper to get a family pass. (when you have a family larger than 4 people this is usually the cheapest route.) This time it only cost us $20 for a day of fun and adventure. In my opinion worth it.
The day was perfect. A total 180 from the day before where it was pouring rain and freezing cold. This day was just right. There were way more people in costume than I would have guessed but that makes it more fun. Peter and Brennen's costumes were a huge hit. Peter loved how every one called him SIR Peter in an English accent. Of course his name DOES lead one to use an English accent, this occasion just made it more so.
There was archery, swords, music, falconry, gypsies, dancers, horses, jugglers etc. Tons of activities to join in or just watch from afar. Our absolute favorite would most definitely be the Jousting tournament. Real live jousting with real life horses. The knights were hilarious and a little rude so of course we loved them. It was so much fun I believe we will have to mark it on our calender for next year.
