Part of Pearl Harbor is the aviation museum. This is one that could be missed, but if you have to time and your with someone that loves planes I'd say go ahead. While it was cool to see all the different kinds of planes, I wasn't totally amazed. A couple of things I did find really intriguing was the cactus air strip. Our troop were smart enough and sneaky enough to put these metal grates under the gravel along the entire runway. So when the enemy bombed the airstrip to prevent planes from taking off and landing, it didn't even phase us, ingenious!

The pilots preferred these round engines because they could take a beating and keep going. The narrow ones were faster but easily destroyed. |
